TOPIC: HIS DEATH & RESURRECTION.

Text:Phil.3.10 – That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

This an amazing scripture. it reminds as a kid, when an elderly person gets you a gift an you ask; “how much” the default response you get is; ” do you want to pay for it?” This answer keeps the attention of the child or the recipient on the gift and not it’s purchasing value.
We have all just finished celebrating the resurrection and fervently prayed for the resurrection power and gift to come to work in our lives.
Paul in this writting acknowledged the knowledge of his resurrecting Power. But much more than that, he prayed to be conformed to the image of His death. In order words, whomsoever he is or whatsoever he was that enabled him pay so much a price to purchase me this gift of resurrection, I want it to. We celebrate the gift (Resurrection) but we seldome recognize or give attention to the cost of that gift because we have been thought not to ask. But Paul is saying here, to truly appreciate and get the best of the gift (Resurrection), I must become more like the price (Death).
It’s one thing to receive and appreciate a gift, it’s another to look beyond the gift into the hearts and intent of the giver this takes you from being just a recipient of the gift to the value (A worthy Price) until the receiver equals the price the gift has lost its value.until you and I we are conformed to his death, resurrection holds no value

Further scripture: Phi:3:1-14, 1Peter 1:3-25

Prayer: Lord I thank you the death of your son, and the gift of resurrection. help me to be conformed to his death that I may become of value to that power of resurrection.
